Marysville Union Pacific Depot Preservation Society

Goal: $150,000.00

Specific Need

We are faced with the complex task of rebuilding the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure at the Historic Depot. This infrastructure was removed before the Depot was turned over to our Society in 2015. We installed construction power to be able to rebuild, repair and preserve the Depot and restore some of the interior spaces. We have capitalized on that progress since 2018 providing education, events, and entertainment for 4-5 months out of the year.

We have built functionality with the establishment of our Museum, the Jake Parez Library, and this past year outfitted our Catering Kitchen. We have updated the water distribution system following a major pipe break this past year. Earlier in 2023, we completed the new underground electrical service and terminated our construction power supply. But we still have limited distribution in our building.

Electrical supply, properly planned and distributed, is the lifeblood of a flexible facility. We have invested, with the help of a Federal Grant, in the design of a distribution system that will serve our current needs and those of the near future. Now we need to have that distribution system installed. It is most critical to our installation of the HVAC System (See our separate fund: “M.U.P Depot Heat & A/C Fund) but also essential to many of our other rooms, e.g., Catering Kitchen, Presentation / Conference Room, etc.  This will finally give us a facility to serve the public with a 12-month-per-year capability. Our Society and our generous volunteers can do many things but installing the electrical system must be a subcontracted activity. We need your help with both of our funds!

Mission

  1. It is the vision of the Marysville Union Pacific Depot Preservation Society to make the Historic Depot a self-sustaining, primary attraction in Marysville, offering event space, educational programs, and social events, in a historically significant architectural setting, benefiting our local / regional communities with added economic benefit, community engagement and improvement in their quality of life.

Profile

You know we have been a growing source of excitement in the community with our events, our involvement in, and the completion of successful projects. We recently doubled the size of our Board of Directors as we prepare to launch our major infrastructure rebuild. The talent and beneficial networks that we have added provide great potential in helping us pursue our vision. We see ourselves as part of the solution to invigorating our community, adding local population, and increasing tourism with long term benefits for our county and region. Everyone will benefit!

Maximize the impact of your investment in our community by contributing to the Historic Depot. Thank you for your generous support.
