Historic Courthouse Preservation

Specific Need

Following the completion of the “Fix the Bricks” project, our focus for 2024 is on other areas which need attention at the Historic Courthouse:  windows, foundation drainage, and interior plaster repair and painting.  Guided by our Historic Structure Report, work will be completed using proper methods for historic restoration.

Since 2017, $770,000 has been spent on chimney repair and the brick restoration of the entire exterior.  Pony Up donations were a significant part of those projects.

Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and will be used to further interior and exterior repair and restoration.

Please help the Historical Society continue to repair and maintain the 133-year-old "Grand Lady of Broadway."

Profile

The purpose of the Historical Society is to collect, preserve and to display historical records and objects from Marshall County, to preserve the Historic Courthouse, to maintain and make available Marshall County genealogical records, and to encourage interest in local history. The Museum and the Historical Society are both located in the Historic Courthouse. The challenge of maintaining a building over 100 years old is ongoing.  Donations are gratefully accepted!
