DAR - Arthur Barrett Chapter

Goal: $3,000.00

Specific Need

Short Term Goal: Provide funding to to help replace the Blue River Bridge flags yearly as funds are available.

The Commuity of Marysville, KS is fortunate to have eight American flags displayed seasonally on Kansas Highway 36 and Eight Amerian Flags on Kansas Highway 77, on the bridges that cross the Big Blue River as you cross into our town. Vistitors comment that the flags make them feel so many different things such as honor, patriotism, freedom, safety and thankfulness for our verterans as well as current service members. An average of 1530 cars and trucks travel those bridges every day and the flags are a reminder of the unity and simple pride for the special people who have fought for our country.

Cost: minimum #500.00/year as funds permit. (includes HWY 77 sosuth and HWY 36 west)

Long Term Goal: Money for America's 250 birthday Celebration in 2026 - Goal to place a flag at each residence and business from Marysville to Waterville. Further as funds permit.

Cost: To be determined/flag. (about $2 flag)

We would like to partisipate in Wreaths Across America in the future. Additional funds would permit us to honor our fallen in more cemeteries across the County.

Any additional fund will go to regular chapter projects such as scolarships, historic preservation, history and civic education and contests for school children, teacher supplies, donations to veterans projects to include treatment of PTSD, cleaning grave markers of veterans and flag education to name a few.
