Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation

Specific Need

Community Memorial Healthcare (CMH) prides itself on staying current with the latest medical technologies and equipment, allowing patients to receive high quality care in their own back yard. The cost to do so is great and we rely on the generosity of our donors to help make this possible.

CMH also takes great pride in our staff. From licensed medical professionals who treat and care for our patients, to office and environmental staff who manage day-to-day operations for the facility, our team is comprised of compassionate, caring individuals who each add value to the collective whole.

Because of our team’s efforts to make the experience for our patients the best possible, in conjunction with our donor’s efforts to see we have the tools necessary to do this, CMH is proud to be recognized in the past year for a number of achievements. For the 4th year in a row, we have been named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics. In January 2020, we received 5-Star designation from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Only 10 hospitals in the state were given this designation, and only two of those were critical access hospitals. CMH most recently was given the Highest Achievement with Distinction award from the Kansas Healthcare Collective for its achievements in patient safety. While our team doesn’t work in healthcare for the accolades, the acknowledgement is reassurance their efforts are making a difference in the lives of many.

Each year in the fall, Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation (CMH Foundation) sends out a year-end appeal asking donors to consider giving towards identified needs within the hospital. These are generally pieces of medical equipment used by our staff to care for patients. We still have several items from our 2019 appeal yet to fund (see list below). Donations made to CMH Foundation through the Pony Up Marysville Match Day on September 4, 2020, will be designated toward these items. We invite you to partner with us during this event to help fulfill remaining equipment needs so we can continue to bring big city services to our rural friends and family. You, too, can make a difference in the lives of many.

CMH Foundation was formed in 2009 to promote and encourage the maintenance, expansion, and the development of Community Memorial Healthcare and received its 501(c)3 designation in 2012. From 2012 to the present, CMH Foundation has granted over $611,000 to the hospital for medical equipment, supplies, and services.

Community Memorial Healthcare (CMH) is a private, not-for-profit, 25-bed critical access hospital. It offers emergency, acute care, obstetrics, surgical, ancillary, and outpatient services in addition to three rural health clinics, home health services, a durable medical equipment store, and contract services of physical, occupational and speech therapies, dialysis clinic, and anesthesia. The hospital employs seven family practice physicians, one general surgeon, and six nurse practitioners. Its outpatient referral clinic offers a wide range of specialty services provided by over 25 physicians from Manhattan, KS, and Lincoln, NE. CMH is the only hospital in Marshall County and is a safety net provider of healthcare services to the county and surrounding areas. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year providing care and services to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. Each year the hospital provides over $1 million in uncompensated care.

Healthcare is a rapidly advancing field requiring staff and physicians to constantly hone their skills, facilities to be equipped with modern technology, and offer a vast array of services, all while operating as efficiently as possible. The foundation relies on the generosity of our donors to help fill the monetary gap and allow CMH to continue providing services locally, utilizing up-to-date medical technology, at the level of quality our patients have come to expect. We are proud to support CMH staff, working across all departments of the hospital, providing quality care and compassion right here at home.
